COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – An SUV driver who authorities say hit a father pushing a stroller and killed a 7-month-old baby has been charged with aggravated vehicular homicide in central Ohio.
Franklin County’s prosecutor says a grand jury indicted 31-year-old Muhuba Mohamed on Friday. Court records list no attorney for the Somali woman, who lives in Columbus.She had only a temporary driving permit requiring that she drive with a licensed passenger, but authorities say she was driving alone at the time of the June 2 crash that killed the infant, Micah Ferebee.
Mohamed has apologized for the crash and said she didn’t know she wasn’t supposed to drive alone.
Records show she had been cited for a crash five days earlier after striking a median while attempting a U-turn on Interstate 71.
