Horndiplomat-The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has received credentials from the newly appointed Russian ambassador to Somalia on July 11.
In a statement, Somalia’s Presidency said  The incoming Russian ambassador to Somalia Mr Mikhalil Golovanov delivered greetings from the Russian president Vladimir Putin. He promised to strengthen the bilateral relationship between the two countries, and improve the cooperation between Somalia and Russia. The Ambassador thanked the people of Somalia for the warm reception and hospitality.

The ambassador hailed the government for the progress made in financial reforms and security sector. He promised his country will take part in the training of civil servants and the armed forces.
The president of Somalia said his government wants to restore relations with the world and develop cooperation that’s based on mutual benefit and respect.
President Farmajo congratulated the newly appointed ambassador as he has also delivered an official invitation from Russian President Vladimir Putin to take part in the Russia–Africa Summit to take place in Sochi on 24 October.
At the Summit, there will be a particular focus on the current state and future prospects of Russia’s relations with the countries of the African continent, and the growth of cooperation in the political, economic, technical, and cultural spheres. A wide range of issues on the international agenda will be discussed, including joint measures to combat new challenges and threats, and strengthening regional stability. Following the meeting, it is planned that a political declaration on the main areas of Russian–African cooperation will be adopted.
