Horndiplomat-Somaliland rejected the reconciliation and dialogue committee appointed by president Farmaajo and called it “a political mistake.
In a press statement issued by the Somaliland Presidency said: “the appointment of that committee was a political mistake, Somaliland will only participate in talks at an international forum.”Statement says
on July 17, Somalia President Mohamed Abdilahi Mohamed Has appointed the national commission for reconciliation and dialogue with Somaliland.
The commission is chaired by ex-Foreign Minister Abdullahi Sh Ismail; includes Abdirahman Abdi Hussein, Abdirahman Badiyow, Ali Said Faqi, Gen Ahmed Jama Muse and Ali Ahmed Jangali.
The talks began in 2012 when the London Conference on Somalia, held at Lancaster House on February resulted in a communiqué. Pre-talks communique emphasised “the need for the international community to support any dialogue that Somaliland and Somalia’.
The Somaliland-Somalia hit a deadlock several times over technical issues. Both Somalia and Somaliland governments are keen to resume talks.
