ABU DHABI, Nov. 8 — The United Arab Emirates’ coast guard rescued 22 people after a fire broke out aboard a cargo ship in the Gulf of Oman, the National Guard Command said on X.
Specialist teams responded after the ship’s crew reported the blaze, located the vessel and rescued everyone aboard, according to the statement.
“They provided the necessary first aid before handing them over to the relevant authorities, with all of them in stable condition,” the command said in its post.
The rescued crew members were nationals of Arab countries, it said, without specifying their nationalities.
The command said the operation demonstrated its personnel’s readiness and commitment to responding swiftly to maritime incidents and emergencies.
The statement did not identify the ship or disclose the cause of the fire.
