HARGEISA, Somaliland, Oct 7 — Somaliland’s House of Representatives has congratulated Ahmed Shide on his election as speaker of Ethiopia’s House of People’s Representatives, highlighting the historic significance of his appointment and calling for stronger cooperation between the two legislatures.
In a congratulatory letter dated October 6, Acting Speaker and First Deputy Speaker Saeed Mire Farah also congratulated Ayelech Eshete on her election as deputy speaker.
“Your election to the leadership of Ethiopia’s principal legislative chamber represents both a significant responsibility and an important expression of the confidence placed in you by your fellow parliamentarians,” Farah said.
