Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Italian Republic, Luigi Di Maio, to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and the vital support provided by the Italian Government to Somalia.
According to Somalia State media , President Mohamoud noted the historic friendship between the two people of Somalia and Italy, thanking them for their role in state-building in Somalia and for their voice in the European Union to support the development of Somalia.
Meanwhile, the Italian Foreign Minister congratulated the President on his election and expressed the Italian Government’s support for its development plans in Somalia and in agreement with the rest of the world.
The Italian Government is working with the Federal Government of Somalia to rebuild the Armed Forces, drought relief, debt relief and to strengthen international investment in the country’s resources.
