Somaliland Ministry of Water Launches Borama Water System Improvement Project

Horndiplomat-Somaliland ministry of Water Officially Launched the Implementation of Borama Water System Improvement Project.

The groundbreaking ceremony which was held in Borame on Wednesday, Nov 13, 2019, was attended by Suleiman Yusuf Ali, the Minister of Water Resources Development, Dr Abdirahim Osman H. Abdi, Minister of Planning and National Development, Minister of commerce, industry and tourism Mohamud Sajin, Deputy Team Leader for SDF2 Najah Adam, and other senior government officials including, the Governor of Awdal, the Mayor of Borama and local community representatives.

In his opening remarks, Somaliland minister of water Suleiman Yusuf Ali has promised the government boosting the development projects

The Government stands for delivering quick and relevant development projects that trigger economic growth such as water with the support of the Somaliland Development Fund.” Said Somaliland minister of water Suleiman Yusuf Ali

Minister Koore revealed that the ministry of water ready to provide access to clean and safe water for not only urban cities but also for rural communities in Somaliland.

Ministry of Water is committed to increasing access of water to countrywide—both rural and urban. Borama critically needs a sustainable water solution.”  said minister of water Suleiman Yusuf Ali

The project will connect 3 boreholes drilled in Afraaga to the new storage tank. This will increase the available water supply by a minimum of 3,600,000 Litres/day and a maximum of 5,000,000 Litres/day.

The project is implemented by the Somaliland Ministry of Water Resources Development and funded by the Somaliland Development Fund (SDF).
