Somalia President Mohamed Abdilahi Farmajo tells the UN General Assembly that bilateral negotiations with Kenya over the maritime dispute have not been fruitful.
President Farmajo says maritime dispute with Kenya will be settled through the International Court of Justice and that Somalia will see this through to the end and comply with the decision.
“As a matter of international law, the court’s judgment will be binding on Kenya,” Somalian President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo said in a speech to the UN General Assembly. “We trust that, when that judgment is issued and the boundary is established, a lasting settlement of this longstanding dispute will finally be achieved.”
Meanwhile, President Kenyatta told the UN that Kenya calls for the maritime dispute with Somalia to be resolved through ‘negotiation & remain hopeful that Somalia will remain committed to the resolution of this dispute’
