Horndiplomat-Former President of Nigeria Olusegun Obasanjo arrived in Hargeisa this Afternoon on an official visit to Somaliland, On Sunday Afternoon on invitation from the Somaliland President.
Upon arrival, he was received by Abdirahman Abdilahi Ismail Saili Vice President of Somaliland.
The President of the Republic of Somaliland Muse Bihi Abdi welcomed and had a meeting with the former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo.
The President of Somaliland has thanked former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo and the delegations from Johannesburg-based think-tank Brenthurst Foundation.
President Bihi has told Obasanjo that Somaliland is awaiting what they deserve from the AU which means to endorse its case for statehood and be recognized as an independent state.
The Brenthurst Foundation delegation will also meet with Somaliland political parties, Parliament and Civil Societies.
Brenthurst Foundation describes itself as ‘being at the frontier of new ideas and innovative actions for strengthening Africa’s economic performance’ and has been working at the invitation of African governments since 2004.

Olusegun Mathew Okikiola Aremu Obasanjo, who was President of Nigeria from 1999 to 2007. Obasanjo was a career soldier before serving twice as his nation’s head of state: He served as a military ruler from 13 February 1976 to 1 October 1979, and as a democratically elected president from 29 May 1999 to 29 May 2007. From July 2004 to January 2006, Obasanjo also served as Chairperson of the African Union.
