Horndiplomat-Somaliland President Musa Bihi Abdi has arrived in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa for an official state visit.
He was received at the Bole International Airport by Dr. Ahmed Shide Ethiopia’s Finance Minister.
“It was an honor for me to receive H.E Muse Bihi Abdi the president of Somaliland today at Addis Ababa Bole international Airport, for his official visit to Ethiopia” Ahmed Shide Ethiopia Finance Minister said in a Twitter post late on Wednesday.
Speaking to reporters Somaliland Foreign Minister said President’s visit is aimed at strengthening the longstanding ties between Ethiopia and Somaliland.
In his visit Abdi is expected to meet Ethiopian Prime Minister first time since came to power.
Somaliland and landlocked Ethiopia share close economic ties.
The President’s visit also comes at a time Ethiopia signed a deal with the government of Djibouti to construct an export terminal at the Red Sea port for Eastern Ethiopia’s massive gas deposits.
On February 15, Ethiopia’s Minister of Mines and Petroleum, Dr Samuel Hurcato, and Minister of Energy in Charge of Natural Resources of Djibouti, Mrs. Yonis Guedi, signed the agreement in Addis Ababa .
