Ethiopia State Minister Dr.Markos Opens Third Ethio-France Political Consultation

Horndiplomat-The Third Ethio-France Political Consultation began today (February 10) in Addis Ababa with the discussions covering wide range of bilateral regional and global issues of mutual concern.
Ethiopia State Minister Dr.Markos Tekle opened the session, noting that the relationship between Ethiopia and France as longstanding and historical.
He said Ethiopia and France have converging interests on mutually important issues of regional peace and stability, fighting terrorism, cooperation on climate change and other matters important for strengthening cooperation between the two friendly countries.
Dr. Markos said, “Ethiopia’s relations with France is significantlyly important and there is a need to broaden and diversify cooperation in the fields of various areas including trade, investment, innovation and education.
The head of the French Delegation  Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne,Secretary of State to the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs of the French Republic noted that France also attaches great importance to its relations with Ethiopia and said there was a framework on its side to expand these in the future. The growing interest of French investment in Ethiopia was one aspect of this and the Government, he said, was working closely with the French private sector in order that they invest in Ethiopia.
 Jean-Baptiste commended Ethiopia’s reform agenda that has addressed issues of inclusive democracy, diaspora engagement as well as good governance issues.
France and Ethiopia maintain strong political relations as can be seen in the numerous bilateral visits between the two states.
