Hordiplomat- In the letter, The UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Somalia Nicholas Haysom  demands answers from the Somali govt on the legal basis for the arrest of Mukhtar Robow. Haysom also asks the govt- what action has been taken to investigate circumstances surrounding the deaths of civilians in Baidoa during a demonstrations 13-15 Dec.
Haysom says Ethiopian troops arrested Mukhtar Robow, per reliable sources, briefly detained him before handing over to Somali forces. Haysom says if grounds for Robow’s arrest verified it may amount to serious crimes under Somali law, but points out Govt has yet to file charges.
Meanwhile,The UN envoy to Somalia Nicholas Haysom Letter to Minister of Internal Security says EU, Germany and U.K. “suspended” support to the Southest police over the conduct of Police during the SouthWest regional election and statement made Cmdr of SW Police.
