Ethiopia has appointed Ambassador Shamsudin Ahmed Roble as the new Consul General to Somaliland

Horndiplomat-Ethiopia has appointed Ambassador Shamsudin Ahmed Roble as the new Consul General to Somaliland several weeks after Ethiopia recalled its consul in Somaliland as a part of restructuring Ethiopia foreign ministry.


The new envoy replaces the former ambassador Mr.Berehe Tesfaye who had been the resident diplomat in Hargeisa for more than a decade.
Ato Shemsedin Ahmed hails from the Jigjiga  in the Somali region. He was the vice-chairman of the Ethiopian Somali Democratic League and was one of the founders.


He served as Deputy-Minister of Mining and Energy since August 1991 to December 1997, Ethiopian Ambassador to Djibouti since May 2002 to May 2011 and also Ambassador of Ethiopia to Kenya from May 2011 to December 2014.


Ethiopia’s consulate general in Hargeisa is the only Ethiopian representation in Somaliland and is one of only three foreign representations in Somaliland.
