A three-member delegation of the Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF), led by Adani Abdulkadr Hermoge, Spokesperson of the Front, arrived in Addis Ababa yesterday.

Upon arrival at the Addis Ababa Bole International Airport, the delegation was welcomed by Kassahun Gofe, State Minister of Government Communications Affairs Office (GCAO).

ONLF decided to return home following the invitation extended by Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed and with the intention to stabilize the Ethiopian Somali regional state, said the Spokesperson.

Adani added that “the Front declared a unilateral ceasefire as of today (Sunday) to silence the guns in the region and to stabilize the regional state.”

The government of Ethiopia had carried out several works for the respect of human rights, the Spokesperson said, adding “by taking this into account, ONLF has decided to engage in a peaceful struggle.”

Kassahun for his part said a number of political parties had returned home following the invitation extended by the government.

He further said the government would provide the necessary support to these political parties so that they will get prepared for the upcoming election.
