Somaliland:President accuses Somalia of declaring war against Somaliland

Horndiplomat-The President republic of Somaliland HE. Muse Biihi Abdi accuses Somalia prime minister Hassan Ali Khayre of announcing War against Somaliland, the president attends a ceremony of International Women’s Day that was held in the capital of Hargeisa.

On 2nd March, Somalia’s prime minister was rejected Berbera Port Deal among Somaliland, UAE and Ethiopia and said that it was illegal.

“On every historic deal whether a port or resources in anywhere of the country; is only responsible for the federal government and its approval by the parliament.So, I want to underline that we welcome to any company in the world which interests to invest our country” said Khayre.

Although the deal was signed as prime minister Khayre was in UAE; likely it seems Somalia’s Government not was able to stop or suspend that deal.

On Sunday the Dp General CEO Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem said in a TV interview in Dubai said the declaration by the Federal Government of Somalia as null and void the shareholding agreement with Ethiopia and Somaliland would not affect the implementation of the concession.

The president of Somaliland reciprocated Somalia’s Prime minister Statement about the tripartite agreement between Somaliland, DP world and Ethiopia said.

“You were saying a joke and gag but it prompted us to our wounds.We seem it as a declaration of war and you carry out a pure war against Somaliland-We are ready for you”President Muse Biihi

On the other hand, The president of Somaliland Muse Biihi Abdi reminded the Somali-Norwegian Prime minister that he does not know the history of Somalia and Somaliland and is emulating his predecessors on Somaliland’s subjugation.

President Biihi again reminds Somalia Prime Minister the massive massacre and bombings in 1988 by the former Somalia Central Government led by Mohamed Siyad Barre to the people of Somaliland.

“The destroyed and the deaths, a whole population who were collapsed.UN was estimated about 50-thousand of people have died in that war.An 800-years of economy, drafting and asset was disappeared and broken down by your uncle(Siyaad Barre)”.

DP World Officially declared last week the Ethiopian government had taken a 19 percent stake in Somaliland’s Port of Berbera.

The port operator said it would retain a 51 percent stake in the port and that Somaliland would retain 30 percent.

DP World took a 65 percent stake in the port in 2016 as part of a joint venture with the government of Somaliland under a 30-year concession.

Financial details were not disclosed but the statement said the Ethiopian government would invest to develop the Berbera Corridor, a road from the border with Ethiopia to Berbera.

DP World said in 2016 as much as $442m would be invested to develop the port.
