Somaliland President Elect Muse Bihi Abdi Meets with European Union Parliamentarian Delegation

HornDiplomat- Somaliland President Elect Muse Biihi Abdi meet with European Union(EU) Parliamentarian Delegation led by Somaliland’s close friend the British MP James Carver who has been an advocate for the case of Somaliland’s recognition in the EU Parliament. Also accompanying and within the delegate was Raymond Finch who is also a Member of the European Parliament for the South East England region from the UK Independence Party (UKIP). Another member in the delegate was Stephen Atkinson, a foreign policy adviser to James Carver and a member of the Somaliland friends group in the EU Parliament and the meetings was also attended by Somaliland’s Ambassador in Belgium Mr. Mohamed Abdi Dacar.

The President Elect H.E Muse Biihi Abdi was accompanied by the Vice President Elect Abdirahman Abdilahi Ismail (Zeylici), Minister of Planning Mohamed Ibrahim Adem (Qabo) and the Deputy Foreign Minister Kaysar Abdilahi Mohamed.

The EU parliamentarian delegation has passed on a congratulations message to the new President and Vice President on behalf of the European Parliament and the UK.

The EU Delegation promised the president elect to continue their optimism towards Somaliland’s pursuit and aspiration on the independence issue. They also declared their full support of the new government in recognizing the full potential of the world.

The President Elect Muse Bihi Abdi has on his side Congratulated the EU parliamentarians for their unwavering commitment to supporting Somaliland and he also praised the European Union Parliament’s broader engagement with Somaliland over the years. The President Elect pledged to work closely with the EU.
