President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), Ben Nunoo Mensah has arrived in Djibouti for the 17th Ordinary Session of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOCA) General Assembly.
The congress began today May 9 and ends on Thursday, May 11, 2017.
Coming at the dawn of a new quadrennial, the said meeting shall be elective. The Assembly will thus be expected to renew the Executive Committee of the supreme governing body of the African Olympic Movement for the 2017-2020 Olympiad and ratify the election of representatives of various development zones in the Executive Committee.
Also on the agenda is an opening ceremony featuring some addresses; Adoption of Minutes of the 16th ordinary session of the General Assembly held in Flic en Flac on November 24 and November 25, 2017.
The final report of the Executive Committee for 2013-2016; Treasurer General’s report; Audit reports for 2015 and 2016 by the Auditor PriceWaterHouse, and scrutiny and adoption of the budgets for 2017–2020 will be read.
During the deliberations, delegates may also have to discuss the reports of the Women and Sports Commission and the Athletes’ Commission, as well as messages from partners and host cities of some games.
The proposed agenda also features the renewal of the mandate, or appointment of new Auditors.
