Somalia:Deputy Pm Visit The Eucap Nestor Headquarters in Mogadishu

The ongoing cooperation between the FGS and EUCAP Nestor for improving maritime security in Somalia was the the main topic of conversation between the Somali Deputy Prime Minister and the Acting Head of Mission Simonetta Silvestri.
Capacity building for maritime law enforcement actors within the framework of the New Policing Model for Somalia, including the need to update and develop legislation, also discussed.
In view of increasing EUCAP Nestor presence in Mogadishu, in order to enhance support for maritime security governance and law enforcement, Simonetta Silvestri also met with the Country Director of Bancroft Global Development – a multinational company that implements stabilization initiatives in conflict zones, including residential compounds. Confirmation of accommodation and other operational facilities to expand EUCAP Nestor’s personnel in the Bancroft Compound were discussed.
Should security conditions allow, EUCAP Nestor intends to deploy additional experts to Mogadishu and Puntland in the coming weeks.
This move comes in response to the request of Somali counterparts on both Federal Government and Federal Member State levels.
