The Chairman of the Upper House, Abdi Hashi Abdullahi, yesterday appointed an interim committee tasked with solving the rift between the presidency and the Speaker of the Somali Parliament. Made up of ten members, Abdirizak Jurrile, a Senator, is the Chairman of the Committee.

Mr Hashi has been working hard to brindge the gap between federal member states and the federal government. The President of Interim Jubaland President accepted Hashi’s initiative.

Hashi’s intervention indicates that the Parliamentary Speaker faces a hurdle since the Upper House leadership is keen on restoring the working relationship between Villa Somalia and the Speaker of the Parliament.  It was easier to organise a Vote of No Confidence against a Prime Minister or President when the Parliament was the only legislature.
