Horndiplomat-Somaliland International Trade Fair has officially opened in Hargeisa.Horndiplomat reports
The President of Somaliland Muse Biihi Abdi, The minister of Commerce, The minister of Investment, The regional governor, and the Mayor of Hargeisa have attended the opening ceremony of the fair among other high profile guests.
The chairman of the Somaliland Chamber of Commerce Mr. Mohamed Shukri has first made the opening and welcoming remarks to the participants. He firstly thanked the president for his attendance despite his busy schedule and heavy tasks.
Mr. Shukri continued to also thank the sponsors of this week long event including DP World, Dahabshiil Group, Telesom Company, Laas Group, Premier Bank amongst others.
The chairman has equally appreciated both the businesses who exhibited their services and products and the attendees in general.
Afterwards, President Muse Biihi Abdi has delivered the keynote speech in the opening ceremony. Starting with congratulations to the Chamber of Commerce for organizing the fair. President Biihi continued to stress the importance of the business sector to the well being of the nation’s economy and its growth.
President Biihi said ‘We all agree on how necessary it’s to accelerate the development of our country and to be able to do that we must focus on three things: Economic Development, Human resource development and Technology advancement and good leadership.
The president has also under-marked the importance of good governance and implementation suitable policies to foster the business sector. He added that his administration is ready to take steps regarding that.
The president has concluded the need for the government, business community and the public to join forces and cooperate on the development of the country.
The fair will continue until the 15th of December.
