Hiir will hold meetings with officials of the US government as a part of efforts to consolidate diplomatic gains facilitated by his predecessor, Dr Sa’ad Ali Shire. The second leg of the Minister’s North America itinerary involves a visit to Canadian metropolises such as Toronto and Ottawa to meet and brief the large Somaliland community there. It is the first visit Mr Hiir is paying to North America since President Muuse Bihi had transfered him to the Foreign Ministry in a minor reshuffle.
