Africa Ethiopia:President Calls Women To Play Leading Role For Success Of Nationwide Reform
President Sahlework Zewde has called on women to fulfill their responsibilities and play the leading role for the success of the ongoing nationwide reform.
The President made the remark here today at the official launch of countrywide Ethiopian Women’s Peace Conference and ‘Jegnit’ (heroine) Social Movement Program.
Stating that the country is in a reform process, the President said that women are required to discharge their responsibilities to achieve the reform and prevent it from being reversed.
Women’s should maintain Ethiopia’s rich culture of settling conflicts, she said, adding “we should all stand together and safeguard peace as it is the foundation for all things.”
Minister of Peace Muferiat Kamil for her part said women’s have paid a lot for the current encouraging women’s empowerment initiative in the country.
She said the Peace Conference started today would offer women opportunities to fulfill their responsibilities in maintaining peace, teaching about the importance of peace and shaping the generation.
