Ethiopian parliament approves amnesty law

Addis Ababa,  –In its urgent meeting held today, the Ethiopian parliament approved an amnesty law.

The law grants amnesty for individuals and groups either under investigation or convicted on treason, crime against the constitutional order and armed struggle.

The Council of Ministers endorsed the law last month and referred it to the parliament for approval.

Today, the parliament passed the law with only one abstention.

The parliament also approved the appointment of eight members of the Ethiopian Press Agency Board.

Accordingly, Kassahun Gofe, Kassahun Gofe, State Minister for Government Communication Affairs Office, has been appointed as chairperson of the board that consisted of Deacon Daniel Kibret as a member.
