Horndiplomat-Sheikh Mohammed Hussein Al-Amoudi is a billionaire, and by most estimates, one of the richest African-born people in the world. But he now finds himself in the midst of an anti-corruption sweep in Saudi Arabia. He was arrested in the Saudi kingdom last year.
According to The Reporter Ethiopia, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) announced today that he has discussed the release of jailed Ethiopian-born Saudi Arabian Sheik Mohammed Al Al Amoudi with the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman and said that he got a positive response.
“We have requested 10 things from the Saudi Crown Prince and nine of them got acceptance by the crown prince. The one unanswered request was Al Amoudi’s release, but I can assure you that he will come home soon,” he said to a gathering at the Millennium Hall.
Abiy said that Al Amoudi did not return from Saudi along with the PM because of the influence of the family of the crown prince. But, he assured he will soon be released.
