What is at stake in Somaliland’s presidential elections?

After many delays, presidential elections will finally be held in Somaliland on 13 November. President Silanyo will be stepping down, ensuring Somaliland’s third transfer of power in 14 years. Nonetheless, the stakes are high in what will be a closely contested election. The incoming leadership will oversee new international agreements and institutional reforms, which could have lasting ramifications for Somaliland.
