Horndiplomat-Somaliland Minister of Public Work Housing and transport Mr. Ali Hasan Ahmed, who is in Turkey for official visit, met with the Foreign Minister of Turkey Mr. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu.
‘The Somaliland Minister proposed for the Turkey Minister how his country could strengthen its bilateral relation with Somaliland and play a key role in the construction of the infrastructure of Somaliland in particular the roads’. The spokesman for the Somaliland Ministry of Public Work said.
‘On his part, Turkey foreign minister said that they are ready to strengthen his country’s relation with Somaliland and pointed that Turkey is willing to support Somaliland about the infrastructure of the country’ The spokesman said.
Turkey and Somaliland have historical ties dates back to Ottoman era when Somaliland was under the rule of the Ottoman Caliphate. The Significant buildings in Somaliland coastal cities, as Berbera and Zailla in particular, clearly indicate how great the relationship between the people of Somaliland and the Ottoman Empire was.
