UK Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Common Wealth Office Mr. Rory Stewart visited Somaliland .

Horndiplomat-UK Minister of State for International Development and Minister of State for Africa at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office  Mr. Rory Stewart visited in Somaliland .
The UK Minister met with the vice president of Somaliland Mr. Abdirahman Saylici and cabinets from the government.
Both sides discussed bilateral issues such as security, education, health and the impact of the recurrent the drought on the livelihoods of the Somaliland nomads.

The major issues of their discussion was the upcoming presidential election of the country which is due to take place in the mid of November 2017.
UK is a key donor of Somaliland development funds and in particular to the democratization process of the country.

Somaliland and Great Britain share historical ties dates back to the colonial era when Somaliland was called British Somaliland Protectorate before gaining independence in 1960 and unilaterally united with Somali within four days.
Mr. David Concar – British ambassador to Somalia was also member of the UK delegation.
