Horndiplomat-The President of Somaliland Ahmed Mohamed Mohamoud Silanyo has ordered to suspend the recruitment of new personnel for the civil service for reasons related to drought in the country.
The President of Somaliland yesterday meets with the Chairman of civil service commission Mr.Sharmarke ahmed mohumed Guelleh and his colleagues of Civil Service Commission.
The presidential spokesman speaks to the media after the meeting Eng Husein Deyr According the day’s meeting was intent in implementing decisions pertaining to streamlining the Civil Service Commission reached at the last cabinet meeting chaired by president Silanyo last Thursday.

The Chairman of civil service commission Mr.SharmakeAhmed Mohomed Guelleh also speaks to the media  says that the head of state his priority to employment of the countrys and also revealed that the suspension imposed by president Silanyo earlier in the year has been extended until the country fully recovers from severe drought which is presently affecting the major part of the Somaliland rural population has been gathering momentum for the las two years.
The drought situation in Somaliland continues to get worse following consequent poor rainy seasons. There are growing fears that the country could face a famine, which would have devastating impact on the population.

The Government of Somaliland last month say at least 80 percent of the region’s livestock have died due to the crippling drought that has also killed dozens of people and forced thousands into displaced persons camps. also The United Nations recently warned that 6.2 million people across Somalia are facing acute food shortages. More than 1.5 million of those live in Somaliland.
Meanwhile The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC) warned this week of a health crisis in Somaliland after 28 people died of acute diarrhoea in the past 10 days.
