On October 26th and 27th The Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, Somali leaders and representatives from the International community supporting Somalia, paid tribute to the Head of EU Delegation to Somalia, Ambassador Michele Cervone d’Urso, who is ending his tour of duty.
On 27th October, a farewell lunch to say goodbye to the EU Ambassador was hosted by EUCAP Nestor.
Michele Cervone d’Urso was appointed EU Special Envoy and first EU Ambassador for Somalia on 20 September 2012. Prior to that, he was the first EU Head of Delegation and Ambassador to Yemen (2008 – 2012). He will officially end his mandate on 31 October 2016.
As of 1st November 2016, Ms. Veronique Lorenzo, from Spain, will take over from Michele Cervone d’Urso as new Head of EU Delegation to Somalia.
