Uganda’s President pays visit to Ugandan troops based in Mogadishu, commends them for their diligence:
President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda has commended Ugandan troops serving under AMISOM for the critical role the are playing in restoring peace in Somalia. President Museveni addressed the troops after attending the 28th IGAD Extraordinary Assembly of Heads of State and Government which was held in the capital Mogadishu yesterday.
In his address to the Ugandan Contingent, President Museveni urged the troops to uphold the spirit of Pan Africanism, which he said is one of the core values of the Ugandan army.
“I thank you for helping in the pacification of Somalia and exemplifying what unity can do,” the President said.
The President’s interaction with the Ugandan troops based in the capital was a morale booster to the soldiers.
Uganda was the first country to deploy troops under AMISOM in 2007. The troops together with Somali security forces oversee security in the capital Mogadishu, as well as middle and lower Shabelle regions.
